Northeast US Orienteers-

The Empire Orienteering Club is hosting its first ever event at the
Partridge Run Wildlife Management Area (southwest of Albany, NY) this coming
Saturday, September 6th. The event features both a 2 Hour Score-O and 6 Hour
Mini-Rogaine. We would love to have folks from other O clubs, as well as
hikers, adventure racers, at. al., join us.

But, it is now approaching crunch time, and I hope to hear from you if you
wish to attend. Yes, you are still welcome to come even if you give me no
prior indication that you might appear. However, if you want to be sure we
have set aside enough maps for you and yours, then it really would be a good
idea to send me a brief e-mail telling me that you plan to attend, and the
number of others who will be in your group, if any.

Updates, if any, will be posted on the web site (if there is time), but will
be e-mailed directly to anyone who has indicated that they plan to attend.

Also, note that the rules allow solo competitors in the 2 Hour Score-O, but
that for the 6 Hour Mini-Rogaine only teams of 2 or more persons are
allowed. I have already received a request to advertise for a partner, and
I'm sure there will be others who would like to compete in the longer race,
but who don't know anyone who would do it with them. So, I will keep a
listing of those looking for teammates for the 6 Hour event, and try to
match up folks as compatibly as I can, based upon your experience level and
what you tell me about how much you would expect to run or walk over the
course.

Even if you have no intention to run, but just want to hike; and have no
orienteering or rogaine experience, but just want to learn: if you want a
partner to participate in the 6 Hour event let me know, and I'll try to find
someone to keep you company. Otherwise, there's still the Score-O.

back to you.
