Dear ROC friends,
ROC lost another treasured member this week. Former club secretary and
volunteer coordinator, Sandra Lomker, passed away over the weekend after a
courageous battle with cancer.

Sandra quietly steered the ROC boat behind the scenes, with a tremendous
attention to detail. If you had a question about the club charter or
history, Sandra was the woman to talk to. She worked tirelessly to make
sure that every meet was well-staffed with volunteers. Even if she wasn't
going to go out on a course, she would come by and make sure that
everything was taken care of. She would send us emails from her cabin in
the Adirondacks to make sure that everything was set for the next meet.

If you were new to the club you probably met Sandra right away. She would
get to know people, and learn all about them, and give consideration as to
how they could best be a part of the ROC family. When the time was right
she would invite them "into the fold" of volunteers, always with their best
interest in mind. She unselfishly made sure that everyone else was taken
care, and never called attention to herself or her own needs.

Sandra was a dear friend and will be missed by all of us who had the honor
to know her. Details of her memorial are below.

Sandra Lomker <https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100009409416457>'s
Celebration of Life will be held on July 6, 2016 at the Harry Allen Park
gazebo in Honeoye Falls, New York at 1 pm. There will be a reception of
memories immediately following at the Lower Mill Rabbit Room until 4 pm.
Feel free to bring lawn chairs to the park and wear comfortable, vibrant,
colorful clothing as only our Sandra would expect. This will be a joyous
event honoring her as a beautiful, loving wife, mother, sister,
grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, daughter, cousin, sister-in-law,
mother-in-law, friend, teacher, social worker, volunteer, scout master,
Pony Club leader, 4-H leader, writer, board of education member,
orienteerer, true humanitarian and lover of nature. Anyone who met her
never left untouched by her kindness and compassion. Please join us for our
final farewell. In lieu of flowers, Sandra asked for charities to be
donated to Monroe County 4-H Cooperative Extension, Westside YMCA, Cameron
Community Center, or any youth/ family organization of choice. She also
prefers plants that will thrive to cut flowers.
