UUggh! Thank you Laurie for the correction! The sinister date mistake for this event creeps in yet again. The 2016 Annual Meeting is SUNDAY Dec 4, not the 3rd. Sorry for the confusion

2016 Annual Meeting and Potluck (Members Only)
When: SUNDAY, December 4, 2016
Where: Carmen Clark Lodge, Brighton Town Park, 777 Westfall Rd, Rochester, NY

Schedule
Noon – 1:00PM: Board Meeting
1:00PM – 2:30PM: Potluck and Annual Meeting
2:30PM – 3:30PM: Club History Event
3:30PM: Control Pickup

Event Summary
The event will be similar to a map adventure in that participants will answer a question for points at each control in a scatter-O. The answer to each question may be found on the club history board created by Laurie Hunt for the past club history display at the North American Orienteering Championships. Study up because there will be prizes! Nine pictures of the display are available on our website for study ahead of the event at http://roc.us.orienteering.org/#pta58983000. If you pick any of the large thumbnails (double tap on a mobile device) you can then scroll down and pick the image again and it will display in high resolution. We cannot post the photos to facebook because it compresses them beyond legibility. The poster board will also be available to study at the meetings before the event.

Each participant will be given a map of a scatter-O orienteering course of ten controls. The start will be a mass start. The time limit will be one hour with a 10 point/minute late penalty. The difficulty of the course will be white to yellow. At each control there will be a question in multiple choice format, the answer to which may be found on the club history board. Participants may use their phone to view the board during the race, but with only six minutes per control it is highly advised that the board is well studied beforehand.

Questions will be in the format of multiple choice of three choices. The choices will be labeled with e-punch numbers corresponding to three e-punch boxes located at each control. Choices are made by punching one or two of three e-punches located at each control. The scoring for responses will be 10 points for correct answers punched and minus 5 points for each incorrect answer punched. Punching only the correct answer of the three choices at each question will be worth 10 points. Punching one right answer and one wrong answer through elimination of one wrong answer will give 5 points (plus 10 points minus 5 points). Punching only two wrong answers will give minus 10 points. Finally, punching all answers at a control will result in a score of zero for that control.

Blinds will be installed over the e-punch boxes to prevent participants from seeing the punch responses of other participants. Use your body to blind your responses as well.

See you there!

Greg Michels, Meet Director
