Broadcasts from the WOC 2016 will be available to television viewers in 67
countries and territories, which is a record number. The productions
include 17 hours of live coverage from 5 competitions during the
championships week as well as daily and weekly highlight Studio programs.

For the full experience, the whole event will also be live streamed on the
IOF LiveCenter. Anyone, from anywhere, who wants to follow the action can
purchase daily passes or a full week pass. This will give you access to the
live broadcast, complete with expert commentary Katherine Bett and Hugh Dan
MacLennan, as well as GPS tracking and live results. More information on

*Strömstad town in bloom.*
Strömstad Municipality have planted flowers in the WOC colours all over the
town. The WOC logo as a flower arrangement can be admired in Strömstad Town
Park, which will be our Medal Plaza Aug 23-26 th.



*Opening Ceremony 20 August.*
At 14:00 we will start off with music entertainment by the band HAAKS. At
14:45 a flag parade will follow and after that you will be able to watch
the Sprint final at 15:30.

*WTOC in focus:*
*No revealing pictures of the nature at Saltö are allowed. But on the

*In WTOC both women and men are competing, with or without wheelchair!*
*— The most equal of all sports, says Ann-Sofie Karlsson, experienced
coordinator of the 102 volunteers. There is no difference either in gender
or in age, and the course is accessible for wheelchair users.*
>From Monday to Friday, 22-26 August the elite compete or train at Saltö, in
the city of Strömstad, at Torseröd in Tanum and Tolvmanstegen, near the
Norwegian border between Skee and Vassbotten. Just like in a traditional
orienteering one competes in long distance, tempo, team competition and the
relay. There are also training models reminiscent of the nature for the
competition itself. Each national team is limited to three participants.
Registered orienteers are a bit over 100 and are from 21 countries.
— It is probably those from Japan who have traveled furthest, says
Ann-Sofie Karlsson. Only the narrow scenic road to the Saltö island must be
exotic to them, and all who live in densely populated cities, such as Hong
Kong. Not to mention Kosterhavet National Park, the first marine national
park in Sweden.
TrailO place great demands on a sharp eye and map knowledge. The
traditional screens in orange and white are deployed on up to five places,
and from the path one needs to determine which is the right placed
according to the control description. In addition, at the elite level all
can be wrong, called a fake control point. Of course, the race is timed.
