At the meet next week, there will be a free giveaway of many orienteering shirts
and other items collected by Carol and Tom Moran over their orienteering
careers. Their family wanted ROC to be able to have some of these items before
they are donated to charity. Please come and pick something out!

Details
Come on out for an evening of orienteering at Genesee Valley Park. Choose
between a beginner (White) course or a Score-O. On the White course you follow
your map in numerical order and find a specific number of flags (controls).
Start anytime between 6-6:30 pm. The Score-O is a mass start. Everyone starts at
6:30, and can find the controls in any order they choose. The Score-O will be
either 45 minutes or 1 hour, depending on the whim of the course setter.

We will start from the Hawthorne Shelter. Registration opens at 5:45, or save
time by registering online at roc.us.orienteering.org by 5pm Tuesday. (You must
log in to register online). Please arrive in plenty of time to register and be
ready for the 6:30 mass start.

NEW: Learn compass skills for orienteering! We will offer a 30-minute session at
5:30, Wednesday, July 25th at the Hawthorne Shelter in Genesee Valley Park. You
can practice your newly learned skills on a beginner (White) orienteering course
or Score-O immediately following the compass session. Compasses are available to
borrow. The compass session is free with your registration for a White course or
Score-O.

Help will be on hand for newbies. The White course is $5. See the website for
member and nonmember rates on the Score-O course.
